Autism and Sports

It’s that time of year again for sign ups for fall sports and after school activities. I have been doing some research on different sporting activities for CJ to start this fall.

He loves running, kicking and throwing balls around, and dancing. I can’t forget about being in the water. I found a sports league while web searching sports for ASD children called Autism Youth Sports League, located in San Dimas, CA. They have an array of different sports to sign up for. I also found programs in my community that the city offers. Check out your cities website for different programs in your area. Another great place to look would be your local Y.M.C.A.

Swimming
Bowling
Gymnastics
Dance
Cheerleading
Horseback Riding

It’s also very important to keep in mind that it is ok if your child doesn’t want to participate in sports and when it stops being fun it’s time to call it quits.

Has your child participated in a sport activity? Please share you and your child’s experience!
