GRANT WRITER (volunteer) – Our Stars Inc.

Our Stars Inc., is currently seeking an experienced, creative, organized, and passionate Grant Writer. This volunteer position works closely with the Director of Development/Fundraising Director to advance Our Stars Inc. fundraising priorities.

Responsibilities:
– Execute approved strategies, goals, and mission of the organization.
– Develop and write grant proposals to foundations and other grant-making organizations.
– Communicate company mission and programs to potential funders.
– Assemble and submit grant requests.
– Establish and maintain personal contact and relationships with foundation contacts.
– Conduct prospect research.
– Maintain a calendar of submissions and other deadlines.
– Manage grant reporting.
– Perform administrative tasks as related to all grant writing and submission activities.

Qualifications:
– High school diploma (Bachelor’s Degree preferable).
– Minimum of two years experience with professional grant writing.
– Excellent interpersonal, writing, editing, analytical, and research skills.
– Proficiency with MS Office, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
– Experience working in deadline-driven environments.
– Able to work well independently and in a team environment.
– Experience meeting and exceeding challenges and goals.
– Able to handle multiple assignments.
– Previous experience with non-profit fundraising.

DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT/FUNDRAISING DIRECTOR (volunteer) – Our Stars Inc.

Our Stars Inc., is currently seeking a dedicated and goal-oriented Director of Development/Fundraising Director, a new position in the organization. The volunteer Director will have the opportunity to build the development function. The Director of Development/Fundraising Director is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing all of Our Stars Inc.’s fundraising including, the major gifts program, annual fund, planned giving, special events and capital campaigns. The Director works closely with the Grant Writer and the Board of Directors in all development and fundraising endeavors.

Responsibilities:
– Develop and execute Our Stars Inc.’s annual fundraising plan.
– Secure financial support from individuals, foundations and corporations.
– Develop and implement annual and major gift strategies and proposals.
– Conduct departmental planning including goal setting, strategy identification, and evaluation; manage the implementation of the annual Development Plan (works with Grant Writer).
– Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with major donors through direct mail appeals.
– Creating and executing a strategy for a large sustained base of annual individual donors.
– Overseeing organization of special events; represent Our Stars Inc. at community events.
– Fundraising for annual operations, strategic programs, endowment fund, and future support.
– Developing and tracking proposals and presenting reports for all foundation and corporate fundraising to Development and Marketing Committee, the CEO, and senior staff.
– Ensure timely budget implementation and accurate department financial monitoring and reports.

Qualifications:
– Required some experience in the field and working towards a degree.
– Minimum of three years experience in professional fundraising.
– Strong interpersonal and writing skills.
– Have knowledge and experience in fund raising techniques, particularly minor & major gift fundraising.
– Possess the skills to work with and motivate staff, board members and other volunteers.
– Have the desire to get out of the office and build external relationships.
– Be a self-starter and goal-driven to initiate donor visits and fundraising calls.
– Be organized and exhibit follow-through on tasks and goals.
– Display a positive attitude, show concern for people and community, demonstrate presence, self-confidence, common sense and good listening ability.

FUNDRAISING COMMITTEE (volunteer) – Our Stars Inc.

The Our Stars Inc. Fundraising Committee plans for and sets annual fundraising goals and objectives; develops policies and procedures; and guides the implementation of a range of fund development initiatives (i.e. individual giving, special events, corporate/foundation proposals) aimed at diversifying Our Stars Inc.’s revenue as a charity and community-based organization. Members attend and facilitate meetings, make group decisions and plans, and contribute their expertise and contacts to build the committee’s fundraising endeavors. All activities carried out under the guidance of the Board of Directors and the Director of Development/Fundraising Director.

Responsibilities:
– Attend meetings by phone or in person during weekday evenings.
– Share expertise in fundraising and contacts who might build fundraising goals.
– Be versed in Our Stars Inc.’s mandate and programming and share it with your contacts and communities.
– Attend fundraising events and trainings.
– Generating online buzz and interest about events via social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.)
– Assist with marketing of fundraisers.
– Occasionally facilitate meetings and write minutes (if applicable).
– May be required to travel (if applicable).
– Other duties as required.

Qualifications:
– Must be at least 18.
– Creative thinking within non-profit budget limitations.
– Experience in fundraising for charities, organizations or other relevant sectors.
– Willingness to learn about Our Stars Inc. and build on your understanding of issues related to special needs like autism.
– Financial and communications/marketing backgrounds a strong asset.
– Teamwork skills and capacity to work with and engage diverse people with diverse ideas.
– Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
– Ability to network and harness new and existing connections.
– Ability to adapt to changing needs and realities.

FUNDRAISER (volunteer) – Our Stars Inc.

The Our Stars Inc. Fundraiser will coordinate event volunteers, pledge campaigns, and event planning support for all donor cultivation events. This includes working on all aspects of volunteer recruitment, training and retention, notifying the Grant Writer of upcoming CFC (Combined Federal Campaign) registry dates and securing venues for donor cultivation events. This position also serves as primary support personnel for the Fundraising events.

Responsibilities:
– Plans and executes assigned events within budget (including logistics, sponsorships and analytics/tracking of events).
– Working with Grant Writer on the creation & dissemination of invitations to each event.
– Create announcements on events for dissemination on our website and social media.
– Management of venue set-up and staging for each event.
– Attend donor cultivation events in order to train and supervise volunteer staff (this may include multiple evenings and weekends).
– Maintain event statistics and prepare appropriate report for the Grant Writer & Director of Development.
– Work closely with the volunteers to create schedules, send notification mailings about activities, recruit helpers and coordinate volunteers.
– Attend Volunteer Fairs/Events in order to recruit new volunteers.
– Maintain the paper goods supply and ordering supplies as needed.
– Maintain volunteer rosters, RSVP hours of service, and schedule meetings with event volunteers.
– Assist Director of Development/Fundraising Director at fundraising events
– Serving as primary backup for Fundraising Director in the planning and execution stages of fundraising events.
– Attending fundraising events in order to train and supervise volunteer staff (this will include multiple evenings and weekends).
– Helping Fundraising Director with a variety of event tasks prior to, during and after each project.
– Assists in identifying potential donors for fundraisers and maintaining donor list.
– Maintain working relationship with partner programs.
– Miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
– Must be at least 18.
– Ability to work effectively with a variety of personality types, outside organizations, board members and major donors.
– Excellent written and communication skills required.
– Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
– Ability to multitask.
– Flexibility in hours is required as this position may work a number of nights, early mornings, weekends, and non-traditional business hours during events.

SUPPORT GROUP LEADER/FACILITATOR (volunteer) – Our Stars Inc.

Our Stars Inc. is looking for a Support Group Leader/Facilitator to help facilitate the exchange of support and information to a group of caregivers on a regular basis (commonly once a month).

Responsibilities:
– Attend all support group meetings.
– Share responsibilities with a co-facilitator (if one is available).
– Involve participation of all members in the planning and implementation of the monthly meetings.
– Coordinate ongoing arrangements for meeting site.
– Notify group members of meeting schedule.
– Coordinate monthly publicity for support group to the community at large.
– Provide current information on organization programs, services, and upcoming events at each meeting and encourage participation.
– Obtain speakers on issues of interest to support group participants (when applicable).
– Arrange for refreshments if desired; set-up and clean-up of meeting space.
– Guide participation of members, emphasizing group interaction and non-judgmental atmosphere for sharing with one another.
– Take attendance at ALL meetings and submit monthly report to the Program Director in a timely manner.
– Maintain confidentiality about all information received about support group members and content of meetings.
– Communicate any changes in group/facilitator information or concerns about group to Program Director.

Qualifications:
– Must be at least 18.
– Experience with and sufficient knowledge of special needs like autism and its impact on families.
– Knowledge or willingness to learn appropriate techniques for facilitating support groups.
– Empathy for individuals and families dealing with special needs like autism.
– Active listening skills.
– Comfort with the expression of emotion.
– Ability to work independently or with a co-facilitator.
– Have own transportation.

Our Stars Inc. is looking for a Meet Up Group Leader to help with locally-organized groups that get together for face-to-face events on a regular basis (commonly once a month).
